Pervasive story

Almost all the day working with a Pervasive database. There is a system here in Texas that controls the shop floor made on Clipper and using a Pervasive database on Novell. The complete solution is solid as a rock and very inteliigent designed. The programmer is a genius. My respect to him.

What I am doing here? Well.. they recently upgraded the Pervasive engine as well as Novell, and since that moment strange things happened. The main is that the number of pervasive connections are growing and growing without control. The main programmer thinks that it's caused by a set of VB6 and .NET applications that extracts data to another system from Perasive, using an updated ODBC driver known as "Merant DataDirect".

There are lots of ways to get inside the Pervasive database, but the main programmer doesn't welcome any relational way… So I can't use the own Pervasive ODBC, either the pervasive .NET connector, either the Pervasive jdbc.
